Abstract
The revolution of 1956 was broken down, but not as easily and not as they later wanted to make believe. The resistance never stopped. Gábor Zakar and his hand-made newspaper he created, the National Herald, are an example of this continuity. After the defeated revolution, his one-man editorial office began its work. He followed and commented on domestic and foreign events with demanding, analytical work. He kept alive the October platform, the program of national independence won in the revolution. His personal sacrifice turned out to be a bridge of historic proportions, leading from direct, armed resistance through the samizdat literature of the Kádár regime up to the change of regime. One-man samizdat - in the shadow of oblivion.
