Abstract

Flow or flow theory (Csíkszentmihályi 1975, 1990, 1993), describes an enjoyable experience during which a person fully concentrates on the task at hand. In order to achieve the Flow state, it is necessary to make it very clear what the task to be completed is, and to present clear goals related to the task. During the flow, the person is able to place themselves in a completely changed environment, exclude the outside world and concentrate only on the given task, which is why it can be said that flow is a combination of positive influence and increased concentration. According to Dewey (1913), flow is achieved by providing emotionally and cognitively engaging experiences, with the presence of playfulness and spontaneity, as well as corresponding seriousness and focus. Based on the theory of Dewey and Csíkszentmihályi, I examined whether the students experience the flow in the university class. This is based on the Flow-based pedagogical model (Dominek 2022) and the Dominek Learning Flow Questionnaire (Dominek 2023), with the help of which the learning flow can be measured. In the study, I present Dominek’s Learning Flow Questionnaire and its valid results.
