Based on the development nodes of the past two and a half centuries, not only the process of landscape use and environmental management and the stages of anthropogenic landscape formation can be traced, but also changes in the local, horizontal and vertical extent of the built environment. The situation of the Mlnes estate in Mezőhegyes was peculiar, because military political reasons played a decisive role in its establishment, which overrode the general economic standard of the era and sometimes the financial realities as well. The complex economy and management of the stud farm was organized and implemented based on the innovative ideas of each era. State supervision ensured above-average economic standards in both animal husbandry and crop cultivation, and what was most important for all of this: money, working capital. In the feudal Hungarian environment, this capitalist large-scale agricultural enterprise was not only attractive, but also set an example and was an innovation center for both large and small landowners in the surrounding settlements. This role and function of Ménesbirtok has remained until today, but the centers of gravity have changed markedly, and one of the effects of this is the change in landscape use and landscape management. The Mezőhegyes wasteland transformed into a cultural landscape is one of the greatest success stories in the Carpathian Basin of the complex relationship system and influencing factors of anthropogenic landscape shaping – the combination of landscape change and environmental management.
