Absztrakt (kivonat)

In this study, I have collected and published the stray finds that can be dated to the Copper Age, which were found by the metal detectorist volunteers of the Damjanich János Museum of Szolnok. Within the framework of the community archeology program that has been running since 2016, under the leadership of Péter F Kovács, thousands of metal objects of archaeological age have been added to the museum’s collection. Among the finds collected with the help of the metal detectorists, there are a small number of objects that can be dated to the Copper Age, but eight or nine of the more than a dozen tools or weapons can be dated to the „metal-poor” Late Copper Age based on comparative typological aspects. Among the objects presented in the article are a narrow and thin flat chisel, a Hajdúszoboszló type flat axe, one fragment of a pickaxe of uncertain type, two Jászladány type Bradu variant counter-edged pickaxes and two Szakálhát type Salacea variant flat axes or flat chisels. These can be dated to the Hungarian Middle Copper Age. In addition, the three or four Cucuteni-type Lovas A and C variant daggers, a squat-bodied flat axe, two Altheim-Vinča type A2 variants and two Altheim-Vinča type B1 variants, square-bodied flat axes or, according to some names, flat chisels, can be dated to the Late Copper Age. In the study, in addition to collecting the metal detectorist stray finds from the county, I described previously published objects of a similar age from the discussed county, but in some cases I also mentioned other domestic and foreign examples. Another goal of mine was to discuss the Altheim-Vinča type flat axes in a little more detail, since the chronological position of these objects in relation to Hungary is less clear and there are currently no published examples of this type from context. My study is incomplete from the point of view that I did not include archaeometric analysis of the objects due to the lack of measurement options, but this will definitely be done in the future. All in all, the objects found as stray finds, if not a sure basis, offer an opportunity for the long-distance trade of the Copper Age in the county and give insight into the period when the first metal tools and weapons appeared.
