The poems of Sándor Petőfi that were lived on Bácska folk songs, select from hungarian folk song database: Népzenei Gyűjtemény MTA-BTK Zenetudományi Intézet. In my study I am trying to analyze the connection between the Hungarian poet, Sándor Petőfi’s poetry, and the Hungarian folk songs, through the analysis of poems. In the study I worked with authentic recordings of folk songs from Bácska, which are valuable treasures of the Hungarian culture. It is still a question whether these melodies inspired Petőfi, however, the impact of folklore can be felt on his oeuvre. His poems were so popular even during his life time that anonymous folksong singers used them as lyrics of their own songs, thus, these poems lived in the memory of people as folk songs even in the 20th century.
