This article examines the religious life of Alburnus Maior (modern-day Roșia Montană, Romania), a Roman mining settlement, with a particular focus on the structure, communal functions, and dissolution of the collegium dedicated to Iuppiter Cernenus. Its aim is to provide insight into the everyday and religious practices of a highly diverse provincial community and into the operation of associations on the empire’s periphery. The research is based on epigraphic sources—such as tomb inscriptions, wax tablets, and altar dedications—as well as relevant secondary literature. The findings indicate that the collegium served not only funerary purposes, as previously assumed, but also played a significant practical and ritual role. The religious life of the settlement was marked by the syncretism of Roman and local deities. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of Alburnus Maior and the functions of collegia in the frontier regions of the Roman Empire.
