Absztrakt (kivonat)

It is a well-known fact that the majority of the Uralic languages belong to the group of languages which are more or less endangered. The Mansi language is also one of the highly endangered ones. Nowadays, Mansi language means practically the Northern Mansi dialect. Data concerning the knowledge of languages show that the use of the Mansi language has drastically decreased. E. A. Rombandeeva, the well-known Mansi-bom linguist, claimed in the first half of the 90s that after 15 years nobody would speak Mansi. The 15 years are going to get to an end and still we can hear Mansi spoken, we can read newspapers and listen to radio and watch TV-programs in this language. The main question is to what extent we can consider the language of the media (newspaper, radio and TV), so the official Mansi language of our days, as a mother tongue which is capable of fulfilling the everyday needs of communication at least in one area of life, either at home or in the official life. We aim to find an answer partly for this question by carrying out these investigations. In our paper, we examine the main characteristics of the ongoing language change of the Mansi population looking at the subsystems of language and language use. In our research, we are concentrating on the changes that have occured in the Mansi language in the last 15 years. Our research methods are in accordance with the traits of the linguistic change generally characterizing the language change process, as they concern 3 domains of language and language use: the grammatical structure of the language, its lexicon and the stylistic-thematic characteristics of the language of newspapers.
