Absztrakt (kivonat)
Written and archaeological sources provide us a lot of data considering the importance of horses for different nomadic peoples. Horses adorned with bridles made of precious metals served as markers of rank and can be well used for dating. The finds/assemblages I have examined from the time of the Late Empire and Early Migration Period provide us important data concerning the settlement areas, origin and fashion of different peoples. Beside the well-known leading finds of the Hun Period (e.g. Szeged-Nagyszeksos), I have extended my research to the period of the Late Empire and to the newly unearthed harnesses. Buried harnesses may be very different concerning their techniques and forms that can give answers to the questions of origin and date. The presence or absence of different finds may be of importance as well. After the detailed review of the finds, it seems obvious that different objects may show connections to peoples originating from Inner Asia or Iran. Meanwhile the presence of Late Roman art and that of the Germanic Sosdala style can be detected. All of these styles can even appear on the same object, which refers to the co-habitation of different ethnical groups, the interaction of styles. For the dating of the finds, Jaroslav Tejral's chronological groups were most helpful, however, they should be dealt with criticism, since his research is not limited to the Carpathian Basin. Concerning these objects, it is important to take a glance on the eastern finds, since they do serve us analogies. Judging from the examination of the objects, it can be stated that in the period in question, finds related to horses may be divided into multiple periods, however, they can not always be separated precisely in time. It is difficult to connect the objects buried in the Late Empire and in the Early Migration Period to one or more ethnic groups. In addition, most of the parallels point towards the East (to be more exact, to the direction of Crimea, or rather the South Russian steppe) that helps in the identification of the place of origin of different objects.
