Abstract
Tanulmányunk a magyar pénztörténet három kitüntetett szakaszával kíván foglalkozni, három olyan korszakkal, amikor az adott kor viszonyainak tükrében természetesen = ún. „globalizációs kihívással" találta magát szemben a magyar ,,,gazdaságpolitika ". E három korszak azon közös vonás alapján került kiválasztásra, miszerint.a magyar gazdaságpolitika .helyes választ volt képes adni ezen évekig, illetve évtizedekig elhúzódó európai pénzügyi válságok idején, alapozva Magyarország közép-európai nagyhatalmi státusára, illetve a közép-európai diplomáciai játéktérben betöltött szerepére. E három általunk tárgyalt korszak az alábbi: Károly Róbert illetve Bethlen Gábor kora, valamint a XIX. sz utolsó harmada. Természetesen voltak jelentős pénzügyi válságok az európai pénztörténetben e három időszakon kívül is, elegendő gondolnunk á XI—XII. század európai pénzrontási hullámára, a francia forradalom és a napóleoni háborúk minden korábbi korszakot felülmúló inflációs problémáira, illetve az 1929-33-as .gazdasági világválság európai pénzügyi rendszert megrendítő hatására, mely válságok Magyarország életében is sok problémát okoztak, de ezen korszakokban a magyar „pénzügypolitika" nem volt képes megfelelő választ adni e kihívásokra s évtizedekig elhúzódó válságjelenségekkel volt kénytelen szembesülni az ország. My study deals with three stages of Hungarian monetary history in the era of „global challenges" to Hungarian economic policy. The common feature is that economic policy was able to react effectively to financial crises lasting for several years or even decades based on the powerful status of Hungary in CentralEurope and the role it played in European diplomacy. The three periods discussed are as follows: the era of Robert Karoly, that of Gabor Bethlen and the last 30 years of the 196' century. Admittedly, these were not the only periods in which significant financial crises occurred in Europe , for instance during the devaluation of currencies in the 1 lth-12`hcenturies and the inflations of the French Revolution, the Napoleonic Wars, and the Great Depression of 1929-1933, all of which disrupted European financial systems and thus Hungary's as well. In these periods, however, Hungarian economic policy was not able to give the right answers to the challenges and the country had to suffer crises lasting for several decades.
