Absztrakt (kivonat)
Several circumstances influenced the subject of the conference: first to sum up our knowledge about the cult of saints in the field of several branches of science, secondly to raise new questions and problems in connection with the veneration of saints, thirdly the relations of the Hungarian and European cult of saints, and finally to summarize our knowledge about the veneration of Hungarian saints on the 1100th anniversary of the Hungarian settlement. The saints always represented the religious ideals of a certain age. From their cult the different ages emphasized different features. Through this the patron saint could be an integral part of the everyday life. His or her veneration can appear in religious literature, music and fine arts. The opening essay tries to draw up these questions.
