The Roman Catholic Church dedicates a separated feast to the devotion of the Holy Trinity on the Sunday following Pentecost. On this Sunday, a votive mass is organized in a part of Zsombó village called Lápastó which formerly was used as a vine-yard. The members of the community meet in a sacred space and a sacred time. They thank God for what they have been given and they ask for his blessing to their future work. The Lápastó vine-yard was developed in 1811. After this, they started „to establish a world" (Eliade), which meant, on the one hand, the organization of the public administration in the area, on the other hand, the consecration of space. The owners of the land had the pursuit to be close to God even when they were far away from the usual scene of religious life, the town of Szeged. That's why they created a sacred space by erecting a cross and a bell. The same place serves as the site of the mass. The flowers brought by the members of the congregation and placed around the crucifix are important accessories of the mass. In former times, these flowers were believed to be sacred, today they have only decorative function. Until the 1940s, the bell played an important part in the life of the community during the whole year. It served as a device of consecrating the everyday life, but they used it for turning away storms and hail as well. At the beginning of the 20th century, similar masses were organized in several sites in the neighbourhood, but today none is held anywhere else. In the recent years, there were 80-90 people gathering for the mass. On this day, even the people who have moved from the village come back in order to meet their acquaintances. They express their belonging to the Lápastó community by taking part in the mass.
