The present article proposes a complex view upon the life and work of one of the greatest composer’s of the opera genre, Giuseppe Verdi. Starting from a few crucial biographical details meant to shed light upon the motivation behind creating ouvres that have survived up until this day, representing the principal pillars of any selfrespecting operahouse of the 20th and 21st centuries, we enphasize the new musical and dramatic elements brought by the composer to this genre.
