The study examines the ’vitéz’ settlements following the reintegration of the Southern Territories in 1941 – primarily based on the analysis of previously unprocessed documents found among the records of the Vitéz Council of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County. The paper provides insights into the relocation from post-Trianon Hungary with the hope of starting a new life, which was naturally linked to the possibility of establishing one’s own landownership. The article also addresses the survey and characterization of the county’s ’vitéz’ community, the acceptance or rejection of relocation, the circumstances of departure, and the enumeration of designated settlements.
