Absztrakt (kivonat)
The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of dormitory life on university students' academic progress, social skills development, and community participation. The research was conducted at the Károlyi Mihály Dormitory of the University of Szeged (based on responses from both current and former students), using a mixed methods: quantitative questionnaire data collection (N=149) and qualitative semi-structured interviews (N=10). Based on the results of the research, the dormitory environment contributes positively to academic success, especially through infrastructural factors. The development of social skills is significant mainly in the areas of independence and adaptability, while community participation is strongly related to the formation of relationships. The qualitative data confirm that the dormitory is not only a form of housing, but also a social space that helps students' personal and social development. Dormitory life therefore has a multidimensional impact on student life.
