Absztrakt (kivonat)

In an analysis of the record-keeping activity of the Chapter of Pozsega before 1353 the author found three documents which raise the suspicion that they may have been forged or interpolated because of their form or content. From the point of view of content the document issued on 27th August, 1250, no arguments can be enumerated, but its form differs from that of its contemporaries, so perhaps only the date is incorrect. Weighty counter-arguments can be put forward in connection with the document which contains the distribution of the landed property of the Lipózi branch of the Aba family, which dates from 1311. A description of estate boundaries dating from 1299 was incorporated in the document issued in 1311, but was in fact written in the first part of the 1320s. The forger had some information about the practice followed by the Chapter of Pozsega, but he did not stick to it formally, as can be seen from the use of arenga and a list of dignitaries. The fact that the document was forged is confirmed by the corroboration issued in the name of Charles Robert, king of Hungary in 1312, which is also forged. The royal document and that of the Chapter of Pozsega are the product of the same hand and the inspirer of the forgery may have been Sándor Nekcse. The third problematic document of the Chapter was issued on 12th October, 1342, and deals with the sale of an island. What is conspicuous about the contents is that it cedes the island with all belonging to it to the new owner, but a clause allows the original owner the use of the forest on the island. The form of the document also differs from the usual practice. Whether the document is a forgery or not can only be determined after analysis of documents issued in connection with this island by other recordkeeping chapters.
