Absztrakt (kivonat)
Preventive excavation, led by Róbert Kertész in 2007 in Jászfényszaru-Szőlők-alja, revealed a fragment of an extensive settlement from the Árpádian Age. The processing of the material is still in progress, so in the present article two groups of houses and the artifacts found in them are being represented. Besides dating the artifacts, the superpositions of the features and their evaluation through the GIS played very important role. On the basis of the latter the settlement under excavation had indeed two separate periods from the Árpádian Age; between the end of the 11th century and the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries, and later between the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries and the 13th century. The decoration on the inner side of the rim of the pots, and the patterns imprinted by a dotting wheel (engraving ornaments into the soft clay) was a very remarkable decoration of that time. The ceramics of the two periods can be clearly distinguished macroscopically and petrographically. The sintering temperature of ceramics, valued around 800-850°C maximum, contradicts earlier assumptions about the higher sintering temperatures. According to the GIS analysis, Medieval Hungarians preferred to inhabit the surfaces of higher geographical formulations (also) during the Árpádian Age. The row of houses and the lane running across the settlement, verified as a street, defines the conscious organization of space that modulates the picture of the loosely placed houses in a Hungarian village during the Árpádian Age. Such image of medieval village was in fashion in the research of the mid-20,h century. The importance of this excavation is outstanding, because there are very few settlements from the Árpádian Age that provided such a large area for examination for the archeologists. The several strata of the territory make the archeological site more interesting; thus continuing the excavation is not only timely and necessary, but also provides significant information to our knowledge on the settlements from the Árpádian Age.
