Absztrakt (kivonat)

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to discover, based on an own corpus, to what extent the intonational characteristics of Southern Italian variants are reflected in the Buenos Aires dialect of Spanish and to describe these features from a purely phonetic perspective. The corpus is made up of 200 neutral declarative utterances, coming from spontaneous recordings in the Interactive Atlas of Romance Intonation (Prieto et al., 2010-2014), as well as videos downloaded from YouTube that represent the spontaneous speech of Argentinian journalists and actors. The analysis is carried out by the acoustic analysis software Praat, using the Melodic Analysis of Speech (MAS) methodology, conceived by Cantero and Font-Rotchés (2009). The research is based on standardized melodies and it focuses on the peculiarities of the falling inflections, such as the starting point of the fall and its tonal extension. According to the results, there exist certain parallel features between the examined dialects.
