In our paper we describe the number and location of the gendarmerie and various gendarmerie units in the territory of the Szeged gendarmerie district, which were stationed in this area between 1919 and 1921. The first were the units located in the Szeged military district, which carried out various public security and guard activities as part of the National Army, and were therefore given the epithet "gendarmerie". We then discuss the reorganisation and development of the gendarmerie forces stationed in the district. The source will be the orders of war issued by the national army.
