In the first part of the essay the author examines several remarkable constitutions — especially their property-related regulations — that were determinant in the international constitutional development. The 1776 Virginia Declaration will be studied, as well as the 5`h Amendment of the US Constitution from 1791. Regarding the French development he studies The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen from 1789; together with the property-related articles of the 1791 and 1793 Jacobin constitution. Then he turns to the 1946 Constitution, especially to the preamble, which allows nationalization. Concerning the German regulations the Weimar Constitution — together with its historical antecedent, the 1849 Frankfurt Constitution (Paulskirchen Verfassung) — will be analyzed, then the author turns to the 1949 Grundgesetz and its approach to property rights. [Furthermore the author reflects to the Law of the Roman Catholic Church (Corpus Iuris Canonici) and to the property-related regulations of the I. (Church) Statute of 2002 of the Hungarian Calvinist Church on the Church Husbandry.] The second part of the essay covers several international documents — Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms as signed on December4th, 1950; Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union as signed in December 2000 — and their property-related regulations. Concerning the constitutional concept of property the author examines the right to acquiring property and the limitability of the property — with special regard to the public interest — in details.
