Summary: The demographic challenges and outmigration experienced in the Vasi-hegyhát region, have a significant impact on local economic processes, particularly in the field of tourism. According to the literature, the development of community-based tourism can play an important role in the renewal of rural areas. The aim of our research is to map the community-building tourism of Vasi-hegyhát, with special attention to the role of local communities. During the study, we used field research and network analysis. Our results show that the region's tourist attractions primarily serve the needs of local communities rather than tourists, which requires a new approach in developing strategies. The development of transport infrastructure and further strengthening of local communities are essential for creating a sustainable tourism model.
