Absztrakt (kivonat)
Although the roots ofthe cult oftheVirgin Mary go back to theEasternChristianity, the iconographical theme: Coronation of the Virgin Mary was formed in the Western church. The paper analyses two important and early examples of this iconographical type: 1. the Marian gate of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Reims, 2. the altarpicture of Enguerrand Charonton Coronation of Mary. As result of the interpretation the author states that both analysed pictures imagine the manifold content and lessons of Mariology and the cult of the Virgin Mary.
