Es wurde eine gaschromatographische Methode zur Bestimmung der C3 - C 5- Alkoholzusammensetzung von Fuselölen entwickelt, mit besonderer Rücksicht auf den Gehalt an 2-Methylbutanol-l und 3-MethyIhutanol-l. Zur Bestimmung diente eine mit 25% Dodecylphthalat auf Celite-Trägerstoff gefüllte Saule in einem 3 m x 4 mm Rohr aus rostfreiem Stahl. Die Säuletemperatur war 140 °C, und Stickstoff unter einem Eintrittsdruck von 1,8 kg/cm2 wurde als Trägergas verwendet. Die Genauigkeit der Methode ist genügend, die benötigte Vorbereitung ist gering, daher ist die Methode zu einer rutinmässigen Analyse von Fuselölen verwendbar. Beim Vergleich einer Fuselölbestimmung durch Gaschromatographie mit der durch Destillation werde festgestellt, dass die Destillationsmethode nur etwa 60% des im Fuselöl anwesenden Isoamylalkoholgehalts anzeigt. A gas chromatographic method was developed for the determination of the Сй — C5 alcohol composition in fusel oils, with particular respect to the amounts of 2-methylbutanoI-l and of 3-methylbutanol-l. The column applied at the determination was a 3 m x 4 mm tube of stainless steel packed with Celite carrier containing 25% of dodecyl phthalate. The temperature of the column was 140 °C, and the carrier gas was nitrogen at an initial pressure of 1.8 kg/cm2. The accuracy of the method is satisfactory, only a minimum preparation is needed, and the procedure can be applied to the routine analysis of fusel oils. On comparing the analytical data of a fusel oil obtained with gas chromatography and those obtained by distillation it was found that only about 60% of the isoamylalcohol content of the fusel oil is determined by the distillation method.
